Nancy J. Macfarlane, ND

Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Nancy practices out of our Lake Oswego location.  She is passionate about natural medicine and enjoys mentoring folks through their health challenges.  She aims to help increase the level of health and vitality in the community, one person at a time.

Nancy was called to naturopathic healthcare when seeking a better way to achieve health for herself and her family. She was frustrated by some nonsensical protocols of allopathic medicine and the conventional medical model’s reliance on surgery and drugs, the suppression of symptoms being disguised as treatment, the disregard for nutrition, the tendency to create dependency on pharmaceutical medications, and the lack of promotion or guidance towards actual health.  Their experience with recurring health problems led her to seek reasons why such issues continue to happen and what might prevent recurrence. Research has shown that these types of recurring problems are usually preventable and often exacerbated by allopathic treatment.

Nancy obtained her ND degree from the National University of Natural Medicine, the oldest accredited naturopathic medical school in North America.  Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and some undergraduate work in photojournalism. Nancy has a gained a wide range of experience throughout life with a career path woven through various industries.

Her motto is “anything is possible and everything is an opinion.”  Outside the clinic, you may find her enjoying outdoor activities around the Pacific Northwest, or doing things involving hobbies such as traveling, seeking adventure with friends and family, genealogy, photography, etc.

Sarah Schumann-Curtis, ND

Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Sarah practices out of our Forest Grove location.  She enjoys meeting with people and helping them integrate naturopathic care into their daily lives, working towards greater wellness.  She concurs with Hippocrates, who said: "The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well."

Sarah's passion for alternative healthcare spans more than 25 years.  Her interest was first sparked when natural remedies were introduced as a way to treat common conditions.  Curiosity led her to ask how and why healing occurs.  Over time, as Sarah shared her interest with others, it became apparent there is considerable need for alternative healthcare for both straightforward and complex issues.  She came to understand that naturopathic medicine is an empowering way to address these health issues on multiple levels.

Sarah received her ND degree from the National University of Natural Medicine, the oldest accredited naturopathic medical school in North America.  Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry.  Sarah's experience teaching others, mentoring friends and raising her children, along with her strong family values, have provided an ideal foundation for naturopathic family healthcare.

When not assisting others on their health journey, Sarah can be found spending time with her family and furry critters.  She especially enjoys a variety of creative outlets, gardening and being out in nature, whether exploring the beach with her husband and dogs or camping in the woods with her family.
